Dress Cleaning

Dress cleaning

As the most treasured and probably the most expensive dress you will ever wear (and to avoid damage and deterioration) it is extremely important that you have your wedding dress professionally cleaned after your big day and before storing it away! At PdeM we absolutely recognise the sentimental and financial value of every wedding dress and of the trust placed in us to care for this most precious of possessions. We think of your dress as if it were our own and will treat and re-treat every mark by hand until the dress is as clean as it can possibly be. If we think we can get it any cleaner then we will start all over again!

The process

Unlike most other cleaning companies in the UK, PdeM only clean wedding dresses, and so are extremely experienced in identifying subtle modifications and adjustments to our cleaning processes specifically appropriate to your dress. We treat all dresses as unique, and each dress is individually checked and cleaned according to its own style, design, material components and particular marks and stains.

Our 6 stage process:

1. Inspection

On arrival the dress is laid out on an inspection table and examined for specific areas requiring attention. The dress is evaluated for serviceability.

2. Hand spotting

Specific hand treatment and spotting prior to cleaning using individual stain removal techniques. This can take several hours.

3. Cleaning

We have multiple types of dry-cleaning process, wet cleaning and hand-cleaning procedures depending on the nature of each dress.

4. Re-inspection

A formal re-inspection of all individual items. If we need to retreat the dress to ensure the finest levels of service then we will.

5. Hand finishing

Your dress will then be hand-pressed, finished and inspected for one final time before being packed

6. Packaging

All wedding dresses will be individually boxed and packaged in acid-free tissue. Customers ordering a luxury acid-free wedding dress box will have their dresses returned to them ready packaged.
